Retired Faculty and Staff Luncheon
Our annual luncheon for retired teachers and staff provided an opportunity to visit with some familiar Edwards veterans. Pictured are Andy Austin, Bill Carraway, Ann Keith, Joan Kelly, Frances Snipes, Eleise Turner, and Iris Thompson. Smiley and Becky Sanders, Jean Ferguson, John Wade, Kathy Burgess and Dave Lindsay were also in attendance. As always, Sara Lindsay and the lunchroom staff provided a wonderful meal.
Band Fundraiser
The Edwards Middle School band is conducting its annual Joe Corbi's Pizza fundraiser. Offerings include pizza kits, cookie dough, and other delicious items. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support activities that will enhance the experience of every participant. Band members will be taking orders until March 22, 2010. Contact a band member for more information.

Students Collaborate with Six Mile
Students in Mr. Hudak's classes crafted a set of wooden shapes for K5 students at Six Mile Elementary School to use in learning correct letter formation. EMS students cut the shapes from birch wood, sanded them and painted them in primary colors. Six Mile Occupational Therapist, Trish Davis, suggested the project as fun way to help students learn these skills in a simple and fun way.
Chess Team Wins State Title
The Edwards Chess Team participated in the S.C. State Scholastic Championship Tournament held in Columbia on Saturday March 6. The team successfully repeated as Middle School champions for the sixth consecutive year!  Participating members included Kevis Tsao, Gordon Zhang, Tiger Tang, Bilal Karanfil, Wilson Conley, Roger Wilson, Nikki Wyman, Zach Wyman, and Jashua McGregory.  All players won at least one game and several received additional individual recognition for their outstanding performance.
International Exposition
The ILEP Fellows teaching at Edwards this semester participated in an international exposition in the media center. Yusran Bakri spoke about Indonesia, and Mohamed Bouchakka described life in Morocco. Sunitha Nair shared the culture of India, and Issam Al-Sakhaineh told stories of life in Jordan. Mahamadou Fadra Sylla described the culture and schooling of Senegal, and Valeria Lopes told of life in Brazil. The international expo took place over several days, and hundreds of Edwards students were able to attend.
